How do you handle\u00a0nuclear waste\u00a0that will be radioactive for millions of years, keeping it from harming people and the environment?It isn\u2019t easy, but Rutgers researcher\u00a0Ashutosh Goel\u00a0has discovered ways to immobilize such waste \u2013 the offshoot of decades of nuclear weapons production \u2013 in glass and ceramics.Goel, an assistant professor in the\u00a0Department of Materials Science and Engineering, is the primary inventor of a new method to immobilize radioactive iodine in ceramics at room temperature.
