    Dr. Andrew Weaver, Climate Scientist, School of Earth and Ocean Sciences, University of Victoria

    Dr. Andrew Weaver is a climate scientist and the Lansdowne professor in the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria, Canada. Weaver was a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and was awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, along with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore. He has authored or co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, including two popular science books on climate change: Keeping Our Cool: Canada in a Warming World (Viking Canada, 2008) and Generation US: The Challenge of Global Warming (Raven Books, 2011). Dr. Weaver’s research focuses on understanding the fundamental dynamics of the climate system. For his efforts, Weaver has received NSERC Steacie, Killam and Guggenheim Fellowships. He is also a Fellow of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, American Meteorological Society, and the Royal Society of Canada. In 2008 Weaver became a member of the Order of British Columbia.
