    Dr. Katharina Fabricius

Dr. Katharina Fabricius is Principal Research Scientist at the Australian Institute of Marine Science. Her main research focus is in the effects of ocean acidification and terrestrial runoff on coral reef systems. Dr. Fabricius has spent over 2000 hours diving in many of the world’s coral reefs, giving her the opportunity to see the fascinating diversity and overwhelming beauty of these magnificent ecosystems. However, she has also seen firsthand the ongoing destruction of many of these coral reefs from human activity with climate change and degradation of water quality. In her 25 years as a marine ecologist, Dr. Fabricius has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, reports and books, including contributions to the Scientific Consensus Statement on water quality in the Great Barrier Reef.
